URGENT: Steve Irwin Engine Repairs
Still to go
Calling all Part-Time Heroes! Our flagship, the M/V Steve Irwin urgently needs your help! The ship needs urgent engine repairs before departing for its next campaign to protect the Great Barrier Reef from the proposed Adani coal mine in Northeast Australia.
"Sea Shepherd is most well-known for defending the whales in their Antarctic feeding grounds. However, the place where they are born, their home in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, face an even bigger threat than the Japanese whaling fleet in the form of Adani’s proposed Carmichael coal mine,” said Jeff Hansen, Managing Director of Sea Shepherd Australia. “The increase in vessel traffic causing ship strikes, spills and noise pollution will have a catastrophic impact on Australia’s whales."
But before the Steve Irwin can set sail, a vital overhaul is needed of the ship’s engines and other important equipment. We're asking for Sea Shepherd supporters to help us raise the €165,000 (AU$250k) that will all go directly to this project. With your help, we can continue to protect the whales!
